Friendly Advice: How Do You Stay Organized?
We asked our expert readers for advice on how they stay organized. Here's what they had to say...
The Closet
I leave an empty bag at the bottom of the closet. When I find an article of clothing that no longer fits or is out of style, I drop it in the bag. Once the bag is full, I drop it off at a charity collection site. As a result, my closet stays neat and organized. Here are more closet organization ideas for your home.

A tip for every room
I store all of my warranty policies and receipts in one plastic container. There’s a folder for each room in our house. I put the warranties in the folder that correlates to the room where the item is located. For instance, our humidifier is in our bedroom, and when my husband asked for the warranty so he could buy new filters for it, I simply had to look in the “bedroom” folder.

Craft Storage
I use several metal file cabinets to organize my craft patterns, embroidery frames, pressing ham and interfacing. But the best use of these cabinets is for fabric. I fold my fabric scraps to fit the width of the drawer, placing each scrap vertically like a color-coded file folder. When I need a blue print to complete a design in a quilt, I know exactly where to find it. It feels good to be organized! Here’s how to build your own craft room storage.
