Handy Rag Cutter

Like many resourceful DIYers, I cut up old t-shirts and towels to use as rags in my shop. To speed up the process of creating my shop rags, I clamp a sharp utility knife in my bench vise to start cuts before tearing the material into smaller rags. If you’re careful, you can make the entire cut with the knife. Works like a charm! — Isaac Richardson

It’s helpful to collect several shirts to cut at the same time, so keep a grocery bag in your closet and as you come across articles of clothing that have seen better days, retire them from your wardrobe by tossing them into the bag. When the bag is full, set up your cutter and start making rags.
