How To Make Lathe Calipers
Step 1: Draw your shape and drill a hole
Clamp 7-in.-long pieces of 1/2-in. plywood edge-to-edge on a drill press and drill holes with the desired diameters centered at the seam.
Step 2: Cut out the shape
Clamp the parts to the workbench and cut the pieces into a comfortable shape with a jigsaw.
Step 3: Attach the parts together
Hinge the two parts at the narrow end with a strip of leather or plastic. Label them and keep them handy for your next turning adventure!
