Need a dustpan in a pinch? Or how about one that you can toss in the trash when you’re done? Try this: Cut an aluminum pie plate in half using tin snips or sharp scissors. (Be cautious, as the cut edge of the pie plate is sharp.)

Disposable pie plates have other great uses, too. When you pour latex paint from a can, for example, drips will undoubtedly fall down the side. Place a pie plate under the can to catch the drips and protect your floor. Let the paint dry when you’re done and toss the pie plate in the trash.
