Reader Project: Above-Cabinet Wine Rack
To make this wine rack, one reader cut holes in the cabinet doors and glued the doors in place. Inside, a board with holes supports the bottles.
While remodeling his kitchen, Michael Hubbs realized that the cabinet above the fridge was wasted space—hard to see into and harder to reach. So he turned it into a wine rack. He simply cut holes in the cabinet doors and glued the doors in place. Inside the cabinet, a board with the same hole pattern supports the bottles. Before you follow Michael’s example, make sure your fridge won’t heat up the wine. Most models exhaust heat at floor level, but some blow heat upward behind the fridge.
“That hard-to-reach cabinet was useless. So I found a way to make it useful.” — Michael Hubbs
