When Nichole David and her husband, Ryan, built their first home, they wanted their concrete floors to have the rich color of acid stain. But professional bids came in higher than their budget would allow, so they decided to tackle the job themselves. Since then, Nichole has stained more than a dozen floors for friends and family. It’s “absolutely DIY” and “incredibly cheap.” The process starts with a thorough cleaning, followed by stain that chemically changes the color of the concrete and finally a clear sealer. Nichole used Kemico stains.
“Whatever it is, I figure I can do it better myself. That usually turns out to be true.” — Nichole David
