“Our dumpster diving story starts with two headboards: one found on the side of the road next to someone’s trash can in Atlanta, and the other found buried under our stuff in the back of our attic!
When we moved to Iowa, my reluctant wife finally agreed that we could take them along because, where she saw extra baggage, I saw promise. After we settled in, I set about transforming our rubbish into restored use. The smaller headboard was taken apart and its boards reconstituted into a sturdy shoe bench, while the larger headboard was modified and made into a coat rack that is mounted to the wall above the bench.” — James Schroeder
