Stop Plywood Tearout With These Two Easy Steps
End the battle against plywood tearout with two easy cuts.
Cutting plywood without tearing the veneer isn’t easy. I noticed that some high-end industrial tablesaws have a small scoring blade that makes a shallow kerf ahead of the through cut, virtually eliminating tearout. You can accomplish the same thing by making your cuts in two steps. First, lower the blade to about 1/8 in. and make a pass. Then, raise the blade for a through cut. — John Flanagan.
