Things to Buy on Cyber Monday: Travel
Travel deals tend to increase on Cyber Monday when airlines, resorts, hotels and tours start dropping prices. The deals might not be at ideal times, but the savings can outweigh the schedule shuffle. Groupon is a good source to find local spots to travel, sometimes up to 70 percent off normal fees. Expedia and Hotels.com offered steep deals last year for Cyber Monday.
Things to Avoid on Cyber Monday: Stocking Stuffers
Stocking stuffers typically stay on sale longer than other items, so you can wait to buy them. Cyber Monday should be the day to check out more big-ticket items. Looking for stocking stuffers can needlessly eat up a chunk of your time.
Things to Avoid on Cyber Monday: Appliances
Oftentimes the best time to buy appliances is during three-day holiday weekends, like Memorial Day or Presidents Day. The Home Depot, Lowe’s and Best Buy typically offer sweet deals on Cyber Monday, but if appliances aren’t high on your list it’s better to pass. You can usually find year-end close-out deals in May and better appliance deals later in the summer.
Things to Avoid on Cyber Monday: Furniture
Furniture retailers typically run their blowout deals on three-day weekends as well. Online retailers like Wayfair and Overstock will offer deals on Cyber Monday, though the savings aren’t as steep like you’ll see with smart home devices. But if you need furniture, Wayfair and Ashley Furniture are offering heavily discounted items.
Things to Avoid on Cyber Monday: Christmas Trees
When’s the best time to buy an artificial Christmas tree? Usually right after Christmas when retailers want to dump items that didn’t sell. So while Cyber Monday deals on artificial trees and lights appear tempting, let your tree go one more season before you replace it.
