Super-Simple Countertop Wine Rack
Updated: Jun. 26, 2018Using only a crate and plywood, you can build this rustic wine rack in less than an hour.
Materials & Tools:
- Crates & Pallet Large Wooden Crate
- 2×4 Sheet of 3/16″ Plywood
- Circular Saw
- Jigsaw
Cut the dividers
Use a circular saw to cut a piece of 3/16-in. plywood into two 16-1/2 in. x 9-1/4 in. rectangles. Then cut three 11-7/8 in. x 9-1/4 in. rectangles from the 3/16-in. plywood.
Cut slots for interlocking the dividers
Create five interlocking inserts, two short and three long, by cutting slots just wider than the width of the plywood. For the short dividers, cut two slots and for the long dividers cut three slots (see the template below). Using a jigsaw, cut out your slots and sand the edges so that they can fit together smoothly.
Assemble the dividers
Interlock the two larger dividers with the three smaller dividers where the inserts were cut in order to form a grid design.
Insert dividers into a crate
Slide the entire interlocking grid inside your crate. Finish as desired.
